Stitches Involved

Many years ago when “Billy G” jumped into the pool at the Electric Springs Apartments in Warrensburg, Mo. he did not realize that the pool went from about 12 feet deep to about 3 feet deep in a span of about 5 feet.  Therefore when he dove in the pool and came up with blood dripping from his forehead he calmly looked at his friends and stated that “There will be stitches involved.”  He was correct.  It has since been one of my favorite lines particular when I see those terrible sports injuries on TV that give me the chance to proclaim the statement that there will be stitches involved.  This was the warning next to the hot tub at our hotel in Rochester Mn. while I was at the Mayo Clinic.  I felt they were really trying to get their point across by not only showing the red lightning bolts near their neck but the pool of red blood by their head.  I can’t help but think that if they had this kind of sign at Electric Springs years ago the phrase may have never been created.
